Nullam Wellbeing believes that the culture, ethos and environment of an educational setting influences the health and wellbeing of children and their readiness to learn. An emotionally healthy school/ setting will have an ethos of positive mental health support as its core. Children who feel supported have the opportunity, as a matter of course, to share and explore their feelings will always flourish. Having the right emotional support in place for children and staff alike means that academic success and better life outcomes will be more likely. The GRIT Programme for Schools: (Generating Resilient Individuals and Teams)
The overall aim of Nullam Wellbeing is that educational settings will be enabled to ensure that as many children and young people as possible are thriving. Our GRIT Programme supports a whole setting approach through:
- An audit of current practice based on the Public Health England document, A Whole School and College Approach to Wellbeing.
- Policy and Practice development of a whole school approach. Nullam Wellbeing will support your setting in the development of mental health policies, procedures and within school pathways to ensure children and young people receive appropriate support in a timely way.
- Curriculum development support to embed wellbeing into your curriculum and develop programmes to maintain positive mental health and support those who may be struggling.
- Staff training to ensure staff feel confident about spotting signs of negative emotional or mental health, have awareness of strategies they can use to support children, know when additional support may be needed and know where and how external support can be accessed.

Nullam Wellbeing offers a bespoke programme of training for staff, including sessions on:

- Transitioning back to school post COVID- supporting wellbeing of staff and children

- Supporting resilience in yourself
- Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, resilience, and mental health
- An introduction to attachment and the impact of trauma on development and learning
- ACES- Adverse Childhood Experiences and impact on wellbeing
- Practical Strategies for Dealing with Overwhelming Feelings in the Classroom
- Neurobiological development and the impact of stress on the developing brain
- Incorporating Emotional Health and Wellbeing into the Curriculum
For children we also offer:
- Mental Health Champion training- A session to enable small groups of primary aged children to become Mental Health Champions. The children will develop an awareness of mental health and issues that can cause poor mental health and to have a voice in policy development and actions in school.
- Mental Health Ambassador training- A session to enable small groups of secondary aged children to become Mental Health Ambassadors. The children will develop an awareness of mental health and issues that can cause poor mental health and to have a voice in policy development and actions in school.
